I hope this message finds you all well and thriving. As we continue to navigate through a year full of opportunities and challenges, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for being part of this community and for your ongoing commitment towards our common goals.

I also want to acknowledge the deep sense of loss we felt upon the passing of some of the founding pioneers in our field. Their contributions have created a legacy that endures beyond their lifetimes. Their work continues to influence and inspire us all.

While we reflect on these profound losses and honor the indelible marks left by our field’s pioneers, it is also a time to look forward with hope and anticipation. We have some exciting updates and developments to share with you, each fostering the growth of our organization and the field.

ISNR is delighted to announce the strengthening of its collaboration with the Biofeedback Federation of Europe (BFE), a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and educating health professionals in biofeedback and neurofeedback techniques and technologies. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to disseminating knowledge across various health disciplines, including psychology, medicine, and physical therapy, globally.

The initiative to expand our international collaboration has led to establish 12 affiliate relationships with biofeedback and neurofeedback organizations around the world. This effort has significantly enhanced the accessibility of educational opportunities and ease connections transcending geographical boundaries.

After a long period of developments and revisions, the Neuroregulation Guidelines Committee established the “What is Neurofeedback guideline” including clear definitions and standards that accurately reflect our field, aiming at delivering straightforward and dependable information to the public. This resource will soon be available on the website. Additionally, the committee is working on a chart of Neurofeedback Manufacturers to provide reliable information on the specifications of commercially available neurofeedback systems, a valuable reference for consumers and providers.

The Public Education Committee is developing ISNR Education, an enhanced resource center, thanks to the participation of enthusiastic volunteers. This platform will offer an extensive range of educational materials alongside webinars, all presented in a more structured and efficient manner.

We have also significantly increased our presence on social media to better connect with our community and expand our outreach. This enhanced social media strategy has been implemented across multiple platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, where we regularly share updates, educational content, related to the field of neuroregulation and neuroscience. One of the aims is also attracting a broader audience, including young professionals and students interested in neurofeedback and other neuroregulation tools.

We are currently enhancing our directory structure to better serve our members and the public. Our Member directory will offer a comprehensive listing of all our members, while licensed healthcare providers are specifically featured in the Providers directory. The updated directories will include advanced search functionalities, allowing for more targeted queries based on specialization, location, and licensure status.

As a reminder, ISNR partnered with the Biofeedback Certificate International Alliance (BCIA) to launch a Mentor directory to support our members in meeting their professional development and certification goals. This new directory simplifies the process of finding a qualified mentor, which is a key requirement for obtaining BCIA certification. It connects members with seasoned and accredited professionals skilled in providing essential guidance, sharing their expertise, and offering support throughout the certification journey.

Also, ISNR places great emphasis on nurturing the next generation of professionals by recognizing and supporting our student members. We understand the importance of providing them with platforms to present their research and gain visibility within our professional community. To this end, we offer awards that acknowledge the quality and innovation of their work, helping to elevate their academic and professional profiles. Additionally, we provide volunteer opportunities for students to attend the ISNR conference, allowing them to network with seasoned professionals, gain insights into the latest developments in the field, and actively participate in our community.

Lastly, if you haven’t already, I strongly encourage everyone to mark their calendars for our upcoming conference in Chicago from September 26th to the 29th. This event will span a variety of subjects, from cutting-edge research discoveries to best practices in clinical applications. Attending in person offers a fantastic opportunity for learning, networking, and direct engagement with leading experts in the field. Once again, we are proud to offer a hybrid format, ensuring that international attendees can participate from anywhere in the world. This format is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that is both accessible and economically considerate, accommodating the diverse socioeconomic realities of our global community.

Thank you once again for your continued support and dedication to ISNR!

Presented by Frank Corrigan, MD, FRCPsych

This 90-minute webinar will be presented on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 12:00pm eastern time; 11am central time; 9am pacific time

The hypothesis set out here is that this most basic urge to connect is dependent on circuits based in three main components of the brain stem. A clinical approach derived from these hypotheses, Deep Brain Reorienting, is briefly outlined as it provides a way to address the somatic residues of adverse interpersonal interactions underlying relational patterns and also the residual shock and horror of traumatic experiences. It is suggested that the innate alarm system involving the spinal cord and the locus coeruleus can generate a pre-affective shock while an affective shock can arise from excessive stimulation of the periaqueductal gray. Clinically significant residues can be accessed through careful, mindful, attention to orienting-tension-affect-seeking sequences when the therapist and the client collaborate on eliciting and describing them. This presentation will offer an overview of the reactive brain stem, Dr. Corrigan will provide an overview of a relatively new therapeutic approach that targets the brain stem, Deep Brain Re-Orienting.

To register, CLICK HERE.

The post Webinar: Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) in the Treatment of Emotional Trauma appeared first on ISNR.
